Telford & Wrekin People Urged to attend public meeting
West Mercia Police Authority is holding a public meeting on Monday 17 January 2011, at the Civic Offices, Telford Town Centre TF3 4WZ, from 7pm to 9pm.
Kuldip Sahota, member of West Mercia Police Authority and Chair of the Telford Policing Board explained: “As we all know, this year presents great financial challenges, and we will have to make some very difficult choices in order to achieve the level of savings required by Government, without reducing the effectiveness of police services across the force area. In choosing areas for reductions and those to be protected, the views of our communities matter. I urge the people of Telford & Wrekin to come along and make their views known. Tell us what they value most from their police force and also share with us their views and suggestions on spending reductions.”
The meeting will take the form of presentations from Paul West, Chief Constable for West Mercia and Patrick Birch, Police Authority Treasurer, followed by a question and answer session facilitated by Mrs Sheila Blagg, Chairman of the Police Authority.
If you are unable to attend the meeting you can find more information and make your views known by visiting the Police Authority website www.westmerciapoliceauthority.gov.uk, which includes a consultation leaflet and details of a live webcast at 2pm on 12 January 2011. The consultation leaflet is also available by ringing West Mercia Police Authority on 01743 264690.
The Telford & Wrekin Policing Board is made up of West Mercia Police Authority Members: Cllr Kuldip Sahota, Arul Selvaratnam, Robin Durham JP and Robin Bennett. They meet regularly with Telford’s Territorial Superintendent to monitor local delivery of the West Mercia Policing Plan. Their focus is on performance, community engagement and partnership working.
