Views sought on Policing - Public meeting Telford 18 January 2010
Local people in Telford & Wrekin are being urged to attend a consultation evening on Monday 18 January from 7 pm to 9 pm to have their say about proposals for policing West Mercia in 2010 and beyond.
Local people are being urged to attend a consultation evening on Monday 18 January from 7pm to 9pm so that they can have their say about proposals for policing West Mercia in 2010 and beyond. The event is being held at The Telford Civic Offices, Telford Town Centre TF3 4WZ and is organised by West Mercia Police Authority.
Kuldip Sahota, member of West Mercia Police Authority and Chair of the Telford Policing Board said "This event is part of the Authority's consultation with the public, partners, business and community representatives on our provisional thoughts. It will help us decide on the priorities and budget for policing for the next financial year. This year more than ever we need to know people's views on the priority areas they wish us to preserve and on the prospect of reducing police numbers. I encourage people to attend."
The event will take the form of a presentation from Paul West, Chief Constable for West Mercia, followed by a question and answer session facilitated by Mrs Sheila Blagg, Chairman of the Police Authority.
If people are unable to attend the event they can still make their views known. The provisional proposals are set out in a consultation document which can be obtained from the Police Authority website www.westmerciapoliceauthority.gov.uk or by ringing the Authority on 01743 264690.
The Telford & Wrekin Policing Board is made up of West Mercia Police Authority Members: Cllr Kuldip Sahota, Arul Selvaratnam, Robin Durham JP and Robin Bennett. They meet regularly with Telford's Divisional Commander to monitor delivery of the West Mercia Policing Plan at Divisional Level. Their focus is on performance, community engagement and partnership working.
