New Chair Appointed to Shropshire Policing Board
Robin Bennett, an independent member of West Mercia Police Authority and resident of Much Wenlock, has been appointed as the new Chair of Shropshire Policing Board.
Robin will be joined on the Board by existing Police Authority members Kate Pready James and Councillor Michael Wood and new Police Authority member Councillor Malcolm Pate.
The Board meets regularly with Shropshire’s Territorial Commander, Peter Lightwood, to ensure that local views are taken into account in policing and to monitor delivery of the West Mercia Policing Plan.
Robin Bennett said “As your local Police Authority members our aim is to ensure that local views are taken into account and influence policing in West Mercia and in Shropshire in particular. For example, recently I have been involved in ensuring community concerns are being addressed regarding late-night alcohol-related issues in Bridgnorth, the use of the GHB drug in Oswestry, and speeding traffic in rural villages”.
